About Me

Hello, my name is Dawn Wisniewski and I live in a small town in Connecticut.  I raise Ringneck and Diamond Doves.  I have been a member of the American Dove Association since 2000.

There have been all kinds of birds in my life...but the dove is dearest to my heart.   I can't remember when I didn't have a bird.  As a kid, I had parakeets, canaries, chickens, ducks, geese, and pigeons.  I was 4 years old when I got my first pigeon.  It was a baby barn pigeon that my brother and his friend brought home for me.  That pigeon followed me all over the place.  All the other kids had their dogs following them around the neighborhood...and I had my pigeon following me.  I was 8 years old when I saw my first Ringneck Dove.  It was a Fawn, and I thought that it was the most beautiful bird that I have ever seen.  I was hooked...but they were very scarce here at that time...so it was "I wish, I wish. I wish..."  It was a very long time before I got my first pair of doves ...not until I was in my late twenties.

I have been raising doves for about 35 years or so now.  I started out with a pair of White Ringnecks from a pet shop.  For years I raised only three colors...White, Fawn, and Pied.  Those were the only colors around here.  Now I have most of the colors in Normal, Silky, Tufted, and Crested.  My favorites are the Blond Ivory Crested and the Tangerine Pearled Tufted.
